Help and advice for those affected by the flooding in Adelaide, Virginia, Gawler
and surrounds is available via a hotline - 8am till 6pm, 7 days a week. Anyone requiring
assistance and support should call 1300 764 489.
A Recovery Centre has been established to assist those affected by flooding from
the Gawler River and surrounds. The Recovery Centre is available 10am - 3pm
on:
- Tuesday at Virigina Horticultural Centre; or
- Friday at Virigina
Institute
Appointments for either Tuesday or Friday can be made at the Virigina Horticultural
Centre during normal operating hours. A Vietnamese interpreting service is available
at the Centre.

At this stage donated goods from the public are not required. The government
is providing cash clean up grants for affected home-owners and financial
support for those who are not covered by insurance. These grants are not available
to business owners, they should contact the Business Helpline on 1300 360
306 for counselling and referrals.
The Australian Red Cross has launched an appeal to assist those who have
been affected by the flooding. Further information is available on the
Australian Red Cross website (news release), and cash donations can also
be made online.
Anyone who requires information about technical farming advice or the $10,000 business
re-establishment grant should contact Virginia Horticultural Centre, Old
Port Wakefield Rd, Virginia from Monday Nov 14th on 8282 9200, or email flood.recovery@virginiahc.com.au.
