The Renmark Storm Recovery Centre, formerly located at the rear of the Renmark Hotel,
has now closed. Services and assistance for people affected by the storm are still
available by contacting agencies directly. Alternatively, you can contact the Renmark
Paringa Council by visiting the Council offices located at 8 Ral Ral Street or by
phoning 8586 6609.
Families SA Services
Grants are available to assist individuals and families who have suffered loss or damage to their principal place of residence and/or who have lost personal household effects as a result of the Renmark storm.

Grant Components
- Emergency Grant - Non means tested
Up to $280 for each adult and up to $140 for each child, to a maximum of $700 per
family, to meet immediate, essential needs (e.g. food, clothing, toiletries, medication).
- Re-Establishment Grants
This grant is available under two categories:
- Structure/Dwelling - payable to owner-occupiers only
- Essential Household and Personal Items - payable to owner-occupiers or tenants
Both categories are means tested and available where damage to the principal place
of residence is not covered by insurance.
Up to $5600 for damage to house structure and up to $5600 for loss of essential
houeshold and personal items to assist with the re-establishment of a principal
place of residence. Each category of the grant is assessed and approved independantly.
For example, your home may be insured but you may not have contents insurance. In
this case you may be eligible for the Essential Household and Personal Items of
the Grants.

Housing Assistance
Housing SA provides financial assistance and referral to access temporary or long term housing.
Services
- Provision of Emergency Accommodation grants
- Provision of private rental bonds and rent in advance to enable access to private
rental accommodation
- Personnel assistance through a Private Rental Liaison Officer to identify and secure
private rental accommodation
- In exceptional circumstances or where no other accommodation is available temporary

Farm Business Assistance Grants
Grants of up to $15,000 are available to assist those farm businesses in Renmark (within the defined area) who sustained damage to primary production infrastructure as a result of the 6 January 2007 storm. The funding is available to meet immediate capital costs associated with emergency repairs to damaged farm related items including pumps, drying racks, irrigation systems and packing equipment; repair and replacement of damaged trellising; replanting damaged vines and fruit trees. Renmark Paringa Council
The Renmark Paringa Council offers a wide range of services to the community. Due to the recent storm damage in Renmark, the following services are available:
- Renmark Refuse Dump - open from 9am to 4pm daily. Fees waived (no cost) to those
affected by storm.
- Staff are present at the Recovery Centre
- Renmark Storm Fund has been initiated - donations accepted at any National Australia
Bank in Australia
