Freedom of information

An introduction to freedom of information (FOI) in South Australia, covers a wide range of topics including:
  • documents you can and can’t access
  • how to make an FOI application
  • amending inaccurate documents about you.
The FOI Act does not apply to private businesses or organisations in South Australia but it does allow you to:
  • Request access to documents in the possession of a State Government agency, local council or university.
  • Request the amendment of documents that relate to you or your organisation that are incomplete, incorrect, out of date or misleading.
  • Seek a review of a decision made by a State Government agency, local council or university.

View the FOI laws that apply federally and in other states by visiting the website of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
