If you are a first time home buyer planning to build or buy your first property you may be eligible for the first home owner’s grant of $7,000.
Anyone who will be a joint owner is considered an applicant for the first home owner’s grant.
You may be eligible for this grant if all applicants:
- are aged 18 or older
- are buying or building a property with a market value of $575,000 or less
- are planning to live at the property for at least six months within 12 months of either the settlement or completion date
- are an Australian citizen, permanent resident or are a New Zealand citizen with a Special Category visa
- have not previously owned a property in Australia purchased on or after 1st July 2000 which you occupied for six months or more.

First home bonus grant
You may be eligible for up to $8,000 if you are buying or building a new home through the first home bonus grant. A new home is one that has not previously been occupied or sold as a place of residence. You can apply for both the first home owners grant and the first home bonus grant.
If you are buying an already established house you may be eligible for up to $4,000.

You may be eligible for this bonus grant if:
- you are eligible for the first home owners grant
- the property has a market value of less than $450,000.
